USA - Los Angeles - Jim & Rosslyn

Well the "train" (model and 12" to foot) related activities continues...

We traveled from San Jose to Los Angeles on the Amtrak "COAST STARLIGHT".

We arrived at Union Station..

Rail Giants

We took a taxi to the fairground, which was closed, upon arrival the security officer ordered us not to get out of the taxi! When the details were explained she told us to wait in the shade “over there” until our story was verified.  Our guide Chris arrived and the first thing he did was go directly to the security guard and things became sweet! Chris was a great host despite him saying it was only his second private tour and was still learning. He had his notes and we were allowed to wander and photograph/video what we wanted. He was very obliging and obviously an asset to their organisation. Well we took some great photos got into cabs of a number of locos both steam and diesel where we were able to operate bells & horns from the Engineers seat….

We used the Metrolink trains to get from our digs into Los Angeles.

We took a ride to Hollywood on the subway...

When we left Los Angeles we boarded the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner bound for San Diego.

Stay tuned for the next installment!
