August Progress - Hornertown

Structure work is progressing in a number of areas within Hornertown: Township, West Yard and East Yard. Turnout motor installation and wiring is progressing as well.

Township
The area is above the rear main lines as seen below

A sketch of the general arrangement was developed with BJ

The backboard with facade spacers laid out for gluing
The intention is to paint room details on the backboard before fixing facades. Some window details are on hand as well.

Weight applied after gluing

Building facades to be fixed after detailing

West Yard
Trial layout of building locations commenced

The final location was somewhat different!

The transition to separate from/integrate with Flinston

East Yard
Trial layout of buildings to finalise locations.

Supports for rear section of scenery being instaled

Checking building locations before gluing

Trial fitting platform location

BJ's first trial for painted stone wall - turned out the colours dried too light!

BJ painting the rockwall
He repainted the first section with darker colours

The non painted area will be painted to show concrete pillars and capping

Flour Mills
Last month I had some details of the flour mill that my old workmate Ross has been constructing from Cornerstone kits for me. Well we mounted the front section to the rest of the "framework. This is a lift out section should problems with the track behind and underneath occur later.

A closer look...

The roof and its detailing remains...

Turnout Motors
I have installed 28 below baseboard and one above baseboard PECO turnout motors with accessory switches. The masking tape "tabs" are fixed to the turnout point motor shafts and will be "cropped" after turnout has been tested for operation from the control panel. Thanks to Rossco who helped with the Western end - it made things go a lot quicker,

Wiring
Bill 1 and I positioned and drilled the bus wire holes, pulled the bus wires and then Bob and this week Chris have commenced terminating the two hundred odd droppers and installing the point frog switch feeds.
